Visual Studio 2010: Focus on Code in Web Development
by admin
Hi!
Let’s turn again from TFS to VSTS 2010 and have some VSTS training in terms of getting acquainted of some new details available to make developers happier. I’m talking about settings in IDE configuration.
You know, that when you first run VS 2010, there is a choice of IDE profiles you may use. In VS 2010 Beta2 there are two profiles named “Web Development” available in the list. O, to be exact, one is called “Web Development”, and the other – “Web Development (Code Optimized)”.

Okay. What’s the difference? Actually, the first option is a “Web Development” profile that existed in VS2008, but having some nice improvements.
“Web Development (Code Optimized)” is a new option introduced in VS 2010 especially for developers who have something against WYSIWYG designer, and prefer to be more code focused. So, the WYSIWYG designer is hidden and there is more space on the screen available for displaying code. This also means there is a minimum of toolbars. Here how it looks:

Well, frankly, I don’t see any evil in WYSIWYG, however almost half of the developers I know loathe it, though I can’t unriddle the nature of this strong dislike (maybe this is something genetic)). So, suppose this VS 2010 small new addition will make them happy. And making people happy is not bad at all =)
