TFS Management: How to set TFS 2010 Default Dashboard

October 7th, 2009
by Olga Belokurskaya

Hi!

According to Aaron Bjork, a PM of the Team Foundation Server Process team, TFS users have some difficulties with managing TFS 2010. He’s been requested very often to explain how to set the default page in the new Team Foundation Server 2010 project portal dashboards.

As Bjork has explained , there is a default dashboard already preselected, depending on the version of SharePoint a user is running. Thus the Project dashboard is set as default for WSS users, while Burndown dashboard – for MOSS users.
However, a user can change those pre-settings and choose whatever page s/he likes as default. For this, two simple steps are needed:

First, one should choose the Dashboards document library link from the quick launch menu.

Then, from the list of dashboards available, one may choose the one needed, and open the action drop down. The only thing left is to click Set as Default Page.

Think, it’s not bad, actually, to have one more TFS management tip, taking into account the promised very soon “go live” release of TFS 2010 beta 2.
